The Grey NATO – 241 – Our Favorite Small Watches

As a spiritual follow-up to TGN 195 – which was all about the big watches we love – this episode is all about our favorite smaller watches. Jason and James set a physical limit of 38mm and put together a list of the smaller watches that stick out in their memory. From Rolex to Timex, Breitling, and Hamilton, small watches are not just for those of us with smaller wrists.

From the get-go, Jason has designed a new way to drive his boat around town, and be sure to stay in the mix for a Final Notes that will have you considering an Ineos Grenadier allocation while you roam a foreign countryside with a bargain on roaming data.

Hey, you guys did a great job with the small watches topic. But I was surprised that you didn’t mention the 36mm Aquaracer automatic, particularly since you play-teased (wink, nudge) refreshed Aquaracers some time ago. The 36mm black and white variants are easily unisex. And the blue variant with diamond dial… well… I’ll let you know (wink, nudge). Also, i’m perplexed that so many years after its release, the Hamilton KAPPM is still mis-described… it actually has a 36mm case (from 9 to 3, ignoring the crown) just like we measure other watches. So it’s only 2mm smaller than the CWC Mellor, and the KAPPM 36 wears really great on wrist (I love mine on a one-piece strap).

And... +1 on Marathon GP 34mm field watch in the stainless case... another fave on a single pass strap!

One brand I'm surprised you guys missed knowing TGN's preferences is Marathon. The General Purpose field watches are tiny (34mm I think) and there are quartz and automatic versions of the GSAR/TSAR diver with 36mm cases. They're tall and blocky, but about as capable as it gets for a small diameter tool watch.
